How does the Speaking Test work?
The EnglishScore Speaking Test is available after scoring 200 or higher on our Core Skills Test. You will see the option to take the Speaking Test from your dashboard in the app. If you are looking for how to prepare for your Speaking Test, please read our Speaking Test Guide.
Speaking is assessed for the following sub-skills:
Pronunciation - how well you say and stress words
Fluency - how well you say whole sentences
Communication - how well the speaker’s message is understood
There are 4 parts to the assessment, which are as follows:
1. Read aloud | |
2. Listen and repeat |
|
3. Answer the question | |
4. Grading other people |
Your responses will be evaluated by other users - you will only grade people that sat the same test as you. EnglishScore uses this, together with AI technology, to calculate your score.
Our scoring model was built by experts and designed for real-world conversations in the global workplace. Controlled studies show that our scoring performs as well as a human examiner.
