Can I take EnglishScore with a head covering or face covering?
Our test security requires that you take the test alone, and keep your face clearly visible in the camera frame. Our AI technology will pause your test if it detects you are not following these rules.
Most types of face coverings (e.g. masks, niqabs) therefore cannot be worn while taking an EnglishScore assessment. Most head coverings are permitted and will pass our AI proctoring.
It is important to note that:
- No human reviews the video feed during the test. The camera is on to help you keep your face clearly visible in the frame. No video recording is taken or shared.
- We do take photographs randomly throughout each test. We show these photographs to you during, and at the end, of your test sitting, to ensure you are happy with them. They are reviewed by a human only if you share your test sitting via a Connect Code, or if you get a certificate.
- When you get a certificate, our human proctoring team reviews the photographs from your test sitting to confirm you followed our security rules.
If you are not comfortable with having the camera on, we recommend turning off EnglishScore test security.
