What is a 'Room Scan' and why do you need to scan my room before I take the test?
A room scan is a quick process where we ask you to use your camera to show the space around you before beginning your exam. This means we can check that:
- You are alone in the room.
- There are no unauthorised materials or devices present (e.g. books, extra phones, smartwatches) that could be used during the test.
- The environment is clean and free of distractions that could interfere with the exam.
In a remote exam setting, we aim to create a secure and distraction-free environment for all test-takers. This is an important security process to make sure the exam is fair for everyone and it checks that your test environment follows our rules. It will not be used for any other purpose. The presence of a suitable room scan significantly increases your chances to get your test sitting results verified.
Please contact us if you are facing any technical difficulties with the Room Scan or you have further questions.
